Drawing a cartoon computer: some fun facts before starting sketching!
- Around 1,500,000,000 people are using the internet in the world.
- Over one million domain names are registered each month (so if you think about one, be fast!)
- Konrad Zuse is credited for building the first computer in the world. It was the Z1 build in 1936.
This tutorial will help you learn how to draw a cartoon computer!
A computer is made of a desktop (1), a screen (2), a keyboard (4) and a mouse (3).
Most of this elements are not so difficult to draw since they are all made from basic shapes that are not altered at all.
The screen is a rectangle, the mouse is a circle (or an oval shape) and the desktop itself is a rectangle too.
In this case, the keyboard is a little more difficult to draw. But if you feel the need to make it more simple, you can still go for a rectangle!
The base of the screen is made of a rectangle and a circle. Now this is your traditional home computer.
But for this drawing tutorial, we will try to go for a laptop. It's really easy too. But it's a little more tricky because we are using a little perspective on this one!
First, draw a rectangle to create the body of the screen. Then, draw another rectangle inside the first one to form the screen itself. To create the keyboard, just draw a rectangle on the bottom of the screen. Make sure that this one is larger than your screen but also a little bit more narrower (represented by the red rectangle).
Next, draw a line from the corners on the bottom of your last rectangle to the corners of your screen (represented by the blue lines).
Once your shape is clean, draw another small rectangle on the bottom of your laptop to give it some depth. Next, to create the keyboard keys, just draw 4 horizontal lines (or whatever fits in your drawing). You will see in the next step how to complete the keys using these lines.
Finally, just erase your lines (using some vertical movements) to create the keyboards keys. You can also add the eyes and the mouth of your character to give more personality to your laptop! Add some colors to complete the image!
You can create more original computers if you wish! Why not draw one using several parts like a screen, a keyboard and a couple of mouse (3)! Or sketch a laptop with arms and legs! It's your call! Just be creative and have fun!
